Aston Villa preparing to complete fourth transfer amid Manchester United concerns

Villa ready to welcome Olsen

Aston Villa’s move to Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen is in the “final stage” according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

Claret and Blue are eager to add a third goalkeeper to their books to add more backup to Jade Steer and Amy Martinez.

And Roma boss Jose Mourinho has favored Villa head coach Steven Gerrard approving his departure, which has seen him agree to end Olsen’s loan move to Sheffield United.

It is set to pave the way for Olsen to join Villa on personal terms, all agreed on a deal by the end of the season.

Romano said on Twitter: “Robin Olsen from Sheffield to Aston Villa is now in the final stages, agreement reached. Final details to be resolved.”

“AS Roma will cancel the loan given to Sheffield and then allow Olsson to join Aston Villa until the end of the season. Olsen has already agreed personal terms with Villa.”

Former Sheffield United goalkeeper Paddy Kenney asked the Blades to agree to end Olsen’s loan so that he could seal his switch.

United’s Ronaldo worries

Manchester United have been sweating Cristiano Ronaldo’s fitness after he reportedly quit training ahead of their clash against Aston Villa.

Ralph Rangnick’s men are ramping up their preparations for Saturday’s visit to Villa Park after ousting Steven Gerrard’s men from the FA Cup at Old Trafford last weekend.

Scott McTominay’s first-half header was enough to separate the two teams in a thrilling encounter that would have Villa working hard to lose.

Ronaldo missed that game with a minor injury but looked set to return for this weekend’s fixture.

However, as reported by Sun The Portuguese may now have doubts about the game after he left training with a thigh injury on Thursday morning.

The report said the FA Cup was a “separate problem” from the injury being ruled out of the tie and that it was “raised in training”.

Ronaldo is said to have been assessed by United’s medical team before going home and using his personal oxygen chamber that helps him recover from the injury.
