When Henry Sheflin walked into Duggan Park, Ballinasloe, last Sunday for his first outing as Galway hurling manager, he stopped playing ‘Simply the Best’ or ‘Ain’t No Stopping Us Now’.

It would come as no surprise if he was greeted with an appropriately lavish welcome as the adorable river that flows his way has long breached its banks since he was appointed in October.
